Author James Ellman will visit The Coop at Harvard on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 to feature his new book: MacArthur Reconsidered. Local Writer Diane Stelfox Cook features the event:
On September 19th, James Ellman will present a book talk at the Harvard Coop. The University’s bookstore is pleased to welcome Ellman to discuss his new book: MacArthur Reconsidered. The book dives into the U.S. military career of Army General Douglas MacArthur, whose ranks were meteoric. Most notably, he assumed command of forces in the Philippines during the 1940s. In his book, Ellman takes a closer look at MacArthur’s career, including his famous announcement “I will return” after fleeing to Australia. Although Diane Stelfox Cook does not consider herself to be a huge fan of military texts or war nonfiction, she is still looking forward to the opportunity to pick up this book by Ellman. A unique look at a somewhat polarized individual in American military history, MacArthur Revisited expands on a conversation that has been long forgotten by many armchair historians. Stelfox Cook largely considers herself to be a reader of mystery fiction. But every once in a while, she does enjoy picking up a nonfiction text. She looks forward to adding Ellman’s new release to her reading list.
